New Habits to Control Plastic Consumption

Last Saturday, August 11th, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) – an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and the National Museum of Natural History “Prof. Eugenio de Jesús Marcano” (MNHN for its Spanish initials), joint efforts to screen the documentary “Bag It!”. The screening’s main purpose was a call to action to stop or at least significantly reduce the use of plastics in the country and promote new habits in the population.

Dozens were able to enjoy the film and engage in a later discussion and reflection on the use of plastic in the Dominican Republic. Authorities and representatives of both hosting institutions attended the event.

DREFF and the MNHN have been collaborating partners for a few years, jointly promoting environmental consciousness and sustainable development in the country.
