Over a Hundred UNPHU Students and Teachers Attend Screening of Taste the Waste, Under Auspices of German Embassy

Santo Domingo – More than a hundred students and teachers from UNPHU University attended a screening of Taste the Waste, by Valentin Thurn, who attended the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) along with other special guests and representatives of the German Embassy, which hosted Mr. Thurn in the country.

Other authorities present included Sabine Bloch, Ambassador from the Federal Republic of Germany in the DR; Hans-Ulrich von Schroeter, Consul; Ulrike Pélissier, Attaché for Economy and International Cooperation, and Renate Stegmann, Embassy Attaché.

They also participated in a discussion with students Leandro Feliz, local expert in food and FAO consultant in the Dominican Republic, and Dolly Martínez, from UNPHU’s Pienso en Verde Program.

In the completely full auditorium, an interesting discussion on food waste, globally and in the Dominican Republic, was held.

Ambassador Bloch congratulated the work done by the DREFF and its team and urged them to continue their important initiative.

The German Embassy gave a cocktail party following the film screening.

Since its creation in 2011, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival has been providing Dominicans with a platform of knowledge and debate on the environment and sustainable development, as well as examples of best practices to achieve them, while celebrating the unique beauty and natural heritage of the Dominican Republic.
