At a short ceremony at UNIBE on Thursday September 15th during his visit to the country, Mr. Abruña and Rubén Abruña, producer-director of the documentary, were honored by the Board of the Society of Architects of the Dominican Republic at a ceremony also attended by architects Bienvenido Pantaleón, president; Elmer González, vice president and Carlos Báez, secretary general.

“I am honored and grateful for this recognition, and I hope we can continue to develop professional ties among architects in all of the Caribbean,” said Mr. Fernando Abruña.

Rubén Abruña, producer and director of the documentary, spoke about the importance of festivals like the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival as it disseminates environmental films that help increase awareness among Dominican and global audiences about issues related to the health of the planet.
