DREFF Environmental Film Also in the 2017 Santo Domingo International Book Fair

April 28, 2017

Santo Domingo – As part of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival’s (DREFF) mission to promote as well as educate and spread awareness about good environmental practices, the Funglode/GFDD stand in the 2017 Santo Domingo International Book Fair was the scene for screenings of environmental film, one activity among the jam-packed agenda of events organized by those foundations.

The screenings, free of charge, seek to promote greater awareness about sustainable environmental practices and to create debate within Dominican society.

The series of screenings began on April 25 with the Mexican film “Las Aventuras de Itzel y Sonia: en busca de los guardianes del agua.” The following day, the program included short films produced by GFDD/Funglode, “Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience” and “Value of Life.”

As the GFDD coordinator of Environmental Programs in the Dominican Republic, Omar Shamir Reynoso, explained, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival includes an Environmental Screenings program, which offers the opportunity to the public throughout the country to enjoy the most interesting projections on environmental subject-matter that have been shown in previous editions of the Showcase, thus widening the scope of efforts to raise awareness and deepen the existing understanding about environmental issues among the Dominican public.
