DisneyNature’s “African Cats” Opens in Bonao as part of DREFF 2016

September 14, 2016

The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) presented the documentary African Cats to a full house in Bonao yesterday to an audience of students, artists, filmmakers and local authorities as part of the activities around the 6th edition of the DREFF.

In addition, a painting exhibition formed part of the activity. “Universo reciclado,” by Cristopher Abreu, an artist from Plaza de la Cultura of Bonao. This event took place on Wednesday September 14 at the OASIS Cinema in Bonao.

African Cats, a documentary produced by DisneyNature, is an authentic epic story that illustrates where these African felines live and how they carry out their lives.

The presentation was held in collaboration with Cinema OASIS and Culture Plaza, whose directors are respectively Wellington Mejia and Julio Valentin, both of whom expressed their commitment to promote public awareness on environmental preservation. They thanked GFDD and Funglode for the efforts they are making in this area, especially through programs like the Dominican Environmental Film Festival.

When the screening ended, an interesting exchange of comments and questions took place. It was led by Peter O’Brien, a consultant to environmental media, and Nathanael Concepción, DREFF representative at the event. They shared their thoughts on the content of the documentary and answered questions from participants.
