Films

A total of 12 movies from six countries- Colombia, Argentina, Belgium, the United States, Mexico and the Dominican Republic- will be shown at new venues in association with universities, schools, libraries and cultural and research centers.

  • Victoria Sloan Jordan

    Producer

    Victoria Sloan Jordan contributed to ALBATROSS in many capacities. In addition to lending her creative talents to the writing and editing of the film, she handled the complex planning, scheduling, organizing, equipment rentals, travel arrangements, permitting process, and other logistics for the team’s trips to Midway. She joined the team on four of the trips as photography/ cinematography assistant and served as the team’s de-facto poet laureate.

  • Marvin Del Cid

    Director

    Marvin del Cid, de nacionalidad guatemalteca, es licenciado en Ciencias de la Comunicación y tiene una amplia trayectoria en el área de arte visual y multimedia. Ha trabajado para varios medios de comunicación en Guatemala y la República Dominicana. Actualmente trabaja como editor para el Grupo Diario Libre en  este último país. Ha expuesto su labor fotográfica en muchas ocasiones, individualmente y en grupo  y ha recibido varios premios  de  fotografía en  varios países, entre ellos el Epifanio Lantigua Tourism Award en 2013 por su labor en Tesoros Dominicanos.  También ha ganado el premio de periodismo Epifanio  Lantigua  en varias ocasiones (2014, 2016, 2017) en la categoría de Turismo Sostenible y fue el ganador del premio EWEA (Europa) Photography en la categoría de las Américas.

  • Omar Shamir Reynoso

    Marine Biologist

    Omar Shamir Reynoso is a Marine Biologist from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), born and raised in the coastal province of Samaná, Dominican Republic. He has worked on marine mammal conservation issues since the beginning of his professional career. He has worked as a conservation technician in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Dominican Republic until 2016 and as the Coordinator of Environmental Programs for Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD). He currently works on Oceanography and Marine Resources at the National Maritime Affairs (ANAMAR) of the Dominican Republic. Reynoso has published several works on Manatee, Humpback Whales and other species.
