La Romana

La Romana, located in the southeast of the country, is the capital of the homonymous province and is considered to be the capital of the East. According to the 2010 census, the population of the city is 136,868 inhabitants.

La Romana is located an hour and a half west of Punta Cana and one hour and a half east of the capital, Santo Domingo. The nearest town is San Pedro de Macorís, half an hour away, and Juan Dolio, approximately forty minutes. La Romana is also very near to Bayahibe, a 25 minutes drive, which is the nearest point to visit the islands of Saona and Catalina. In La Romana you can find one of the most famous hotels with golf course in the world, Casa de Campo. La Romana has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country due to the beautiful beaches and the top notch infrastructures.
