Film Synopsis The true story of a young killer whale, an orca nicknamed Luna, who makes friends with people after he gets separated from his family on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. As rambunctious and surprising as a visito rfrom another planet, Luna endears himself to humans with his determination tomake contact, which leads to laughter, conflict and unexpected consequences.

Director's Biography:

Michael was born in London, England. He graduated from University of Southern California with a degree in journalism. He has written four books and numerous magazine articles for National Geographic, Smithsonian and other magazines. He co-wrote the script for the IMAX film, Antarctica, and wrote the script for the award-winning IMAX film Ocean Oasis. He also co-wrote the script for Under Antarctic Ice, a WNET/Nature production.

He is co-director, editor and scriptwriter of SAVING LUNA, a Mountainside Films' multi-award winning theatrical documentary. He is a private pilot with 7,000 hours flown in North America, South America, Greenland, New Zealand and Australia.

    Among the goals of the DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), is to include and support grassroots organizations and communities, schools and young people in general.

  • Marcos Diaz
    A real Universal Community leader and spokesman for the core values of the UN Millennium Development Goals as it is the Dominican swimmer Marcos Diaz. He will meet a group of youth, who will have a swimming competition, at La Caleta. The expected goals of this activity is to offer an opportunity to youth of disadvantaged areas to interact with Marcos, and to get a better understanding for the role model that Marcos represents for Dominicans and the rest of the world, as well as a better understanding of the sea and this protected area of La Caleta.
